What Warwick Speak Easy is
We are a student-led, non-partisan, open debate society that puts students in the room with the people and ideas shaping how we think and live, whether that's politics, philosophy or anything in between. You help choose who we invite, and at every event the floor is yours to question, challenge and argue back.
What our events are like
Each event starts with a guest: a politician, a philosopher, a writer, a campaigner, anyone. They'll set out their thinking, and then it opens up into a conversation with the room. Ask a question, share a view, or just listen. However you take part is up to you.
You choose who comes
Speak Easy is run by students, for students. If there's someone you'd love to sit down and talk to, suggest them using the form on our website and we'll try to get them in the room.
We don't pick sides, you do
We don't back a party, a cause or a school of thought. We invite guests from across the spectrum so you get to hear people out, challenge ideas and develop your own views.
Come as you are
You don't need to study politics or philosophy, or have any experience of debating. Plenty of people come just to listen, and the floor is there whenever you want it.
Warwick Speak Easy is an independent student society. We are not part of the Students' Union or the University, just a group of students running events for other students. Everything we run is free to attend.
